The first BDI and CELIS German Chapter Investment Screening Conference
27-28 March 2025 | On-site | Register now
Globalisation appears to be more and more exhausted. World trade as a guarantor for prosperity and growth remains closely linked to questions of defence and national security. Particularly in the systems competition between the USA and China, more intensive investment controls at home and abroad are becoming a central political issue. For companies, investment controls are associated with bureaucratic effort, legal uncertainty and additional costs. It is therefore important for industry that policymakers and authorities strike the right balance between state control and open markets.
Against this background, we are organising the second Investment Screening Conference with the BDI which will take place 27-28 February 2025 at the Haus der Deutschen Wirtschaft (Mendelssohn-Saal), Breite Straße 29, 10178 Berlin. More here.

The first BDI and CELIS German Chapter Investment Screening Conference
20 Feb 2024
Globalisation is under great pressure ˗ geopolitical competition is intensifying, multilateralism is in crisis and the abuse of trade policy to enforce one-sided national interests is becoming increasingly prevalent. Calls for stronger investment controls at home and abroad are growing louder, particularly in the context of systemic competition with China.
We discussed the practical relevance of investment control regulations with members of the German Bundestag as well as experts from business, administration and jurisdiction. The focus was not only on national foreign trade regulations, but also on the German government's latest strategic concepts and their future design and utilisation as a trade and security policy instrument.
The first BDI and CELIS German Chapter Investment Screening Conference in Berlin took place on Tuesday, 20 February 2024, from 09:00 to 16:00, at the House of German Business (Amerongen-Schleyer Hall), Breite Straße 29, 10178 Berlin. More here.
